Fremont, CA – January 10, 2008 – AMAX, the North American leader in custom-integrated servers and storage, unveils a new StorMax hybrid Server/Storage platform, based on the new Intel® Modular Server technology. This new server platform combines high capacity storage with six 1U high-performance multi-core, dual Intel® Xeon processor servers and fourteen 2.5" hot-swap SAS/SATA hard disk drive bays. It enables SMB and enterprise businesses to take advantage of a cost-effective, scalable, high-performance, and energy-efficient storage network and move beyond the limitations of traditional DAS environments.

The new AMAX StorMax hybrid Server/Storage platform is designed from the ground-up for SMB and enterprise applications. It integrates storage, computing,, and networking capabilities into one system, to simplify the demands of various business applications. It supports the latest quad core 45nm Intel Xeon 5400 Series processors with up to 12MB cache, and provides the most energy-efficient computing environment and improved virtualization performance available.

In addition, the AMAX StorMax hybrid Server/Storage platform is connected to an internal shared storage array along with shared power and cooling. The individual server delivers exceptional processing power via high performance dual-socket, quad-core Intel® Xeon processors with up to 16GB of memory, while the fourteen 2.5" hot swap SAS/SATA hard disk drive bays support up to 2TB and larger hot swap storage capacity, as well as hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, or 50.

Moreover, it provides capacity on-demand with hot swappable compute and storage capabilities, via redundant high-end capabilities accessible to the end-customer. The AMAX StorMax hybrid Server/Storage platform also enables customers to run everything from firewall and web applications to SQL database applications.
