Energy Efficient, High Density 14-Blade Xeon Blade Server for
Data Center and HPC Applications

Fremont, California – March 20, 2008 – AMAX, the # 1 server and storage solution provider in the system builder channel, and one of the 500 largest solution providers in North America, introduces a new generation of energy efficient, high density, Quad-Core Xeon blade servers for data center and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.
With industry-leading power-efficiency, the new energy efficient AMAX 7U BladeMax Xeon blade server supports up to 14 blades with dual quad-core 45nm Xeon processors per blade. It is optimized with performance and density to achieve 672 processing cores and 4TB DDR2 memory per 42U standard rack. It also features 100-240VAC, ultra high-efficiency (93 percent), N+1 redundant power supplies, along with industry-leading density, performance/watt, and price/performance. In addition, the BladeMax Xeon server consumes less than 2,700 watts at maximum performance and still maintains the flexibility to support 4-processor blades at maximum frequency. The new server provides versatile hot-swappable configuration flexibility for the enterprise, datacenter, and HPC environments.
"Our environment-friendly power supplies deliver up to 93 percent efficiency," said Jean Shih, president of AMAX. "Combining that with our super-efficient cooling design, our BladeMax blade server is one of the most earth-friendly computing solutions available in the market. This unprecedented performance and energy efficiency helps our customers significantly lower both their total cost of ownership (TCO) and their costly energy consumption."
In addition to outstanding performance-per-watt benefits, the BladeMax blade server features multiple integrated switch fabrics to optimize I/O performance and interconnectivity. High-speed, low-latency infiniband switching (20Gb/s per port) is ideal for clustering applications, while two 10-external-port Gigabit Ethernet switches provide optimum network connectivity.
Other important advantages include up to 90 percent cable reduction and 65 percent rack-space savings to greatly simplify installation and save on cost while increasing reliability. The integrated chassis management module (CMM) with IPMI 2.0, KVM-over-IP, and Virtual-Media-over-LAN delivers remote access to all computer blades, switches, power supplies, and cooling fans.
