Quality Engineer:
Summary / Purpose:
Responsible to work continuous process improvements, investigate customer complaints, reduce warranty, scrap and DOA rates. Aid in the implementation and maintenance of ISO and other registrations. This position is responsible for the qualification / validation of new processes and to aid other engineering departments in performing detailed analysis on products or processes using quality sciences and statistical methods for the purpose of understanding and improving those products or processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Support housekeeping and safety.
Facilitate and train employee teams in process improvement techniques.
Lead teams in applying the six sigma DMAIC methodology to eliminate waste.
Apply the following basic process improvement tools within the six sigma DMAIC improvement model: Project Charter, Process Map, Thought Process Map, Pareto Chart, Trend Chart, Fishbone Diagram, 5-Why Analysis, Histogram, SPC, FMEA, Benchmarking, Brainstorming, 5S, Correlation Analysis, Error-proofing, Cpk, Ppk, Corrective Action Matrix, and Continual Improvement Control Plans.
Design and improve process inputs to gain desired outcome.
Improve processes to reduce common cause variability and eliminate special cause.
Establish control plans to prevent process backsliding for consolidation of gains.
Analyze process constraints and develop standards to overcome constraints.
Revise procedures for process improvement.
Implement effective corrective and preventative actions utilizing structured planning methods.
Coordinate and work cross-functionally with Employee Teams, Quality, and Engineering to improve processes.
Must proactively plan and execute plans in accordance with established time constraints.
Accurately maintain company records and documents in accordance with policies and procedures. Individual must be able to analyze non-conforming conditions found from production and determine root cause analysis from these non-conforming conditions.
Individual must be able to compile data, analyze the data, and make proactive decisions in a timely manner.
Create and present detailed reports and presentations to persons at all levels of the organization in addition to customers and suppliers.
Verifies material, system and process conformance to specifications.
Create inspection plans, reports, and records.
Collects and analyzes data using statistical analysis methods.
Perform in-process audits, process audits, and Quality System audits against ISO and other regulatory standards.
Provide Quality training for Amax employees.

Job Requirements:
|
|
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience in the quality profession OR 10 - 15 years experience in related QA field.
Knowledgeable in ISO 9001 ISO 14001 certification requirements.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
Must have good data collection analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be proficient in the use of quality tools and measurement devices.
Good interpersonal skills leadership organization skills good team-oriented attitude and strong motivation.
Must demonstrate good written and oral communications skills.
Previous experience preparing writing and presenting technical information.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to concentrate in a busy environment and stay on task.
Previous experience preparing statistical charts and SPC.
Must be willing to complete additional advanced training/educational courses as required.
Perform process capability studies internally and externally.
Ability to effectively manage large process improvement projects using MS Project software.
Investigate/analyze and benchmark industry practices for process validation assessments.
